Everything you need to know about using Cashday to create professional invoices.
1. Getting Started
Do I need an account?
No. You can create, fill in, and download a PDF invoice without signing up. Your data stays entirely in your browser. Create an account only if you want to save invoices to the cloud, send them by email, or track payment status.
Is Cashday really free?
Yes — the core invoice generator is free forever. The Pro plan ($9/month) adds cloud sync, invoice history across devices, client management, email delivery, and recurring invoices.
Which browsers are supported?
Any modern browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. JavaScript must be enabled. We recommend keeping your browser up to date for the best PDF rendering quality.
2. Creating an Invoice
How do I fill in the invoice?
Click any field directly on the invoice card to edit it inline. Fields highlight when you hover over them. Use the “Fill with example” button to see a pre-populated sample.
How do I add multiple line items?
Click + Add Item at the bottom of the line items table. Each row has a description, quantity, and unit price. The subtotal is calculated automatically.
Can I upload my logo?
Yes. Click the logo area to upload a PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP image. SVG is not supported due to PDF rendering limitations. For best results use a horizontal logo on a white or transparent background.
How do I add tax or a discount?
Click + Discount / Tax / Other below the line items to reveal optional adjustment fields. You can enter values as a flat amount or as a percentage.
What are Custom Fields?
Custom fields let you add extra key-value rows to the invoice header — for example “VAT number”, “Contract ref”, or “Project code”.
3. PDF Download
How do I download the PDF?
Click the Download PDF button in the top-right corner. You will be prompted to fill in any required fields (your name and your client's name) before the PDF is generated.
Which PDF templates are available?
Three layout options are available — Classic, Modern, and Minimal. Select the preferred layout from the “PDF Layout” toggle at the top of the invoice card.
The PDF looks different from what I see on screen.
The on-screen card is an editable form; the PDF is rendered by a separate layout engine. Fonts, line heights, and spacing can differ slightly. Download a PDF to check the final result before sending.
Are downloaded invoices saved?
Yes — every time you download a PDF, Cashday saves a snapshot to your browser's local storage. Visit Invoice History to reload or re-download past invoices. Pro users get cloud-synced history across all their devices.
4. Currency & Localization
Which currencies are supported?
Over 20 currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CAD, AUD, CHF, CNY, INR, BRL, MXN, and more. Select your currency from the dropdown in the invoice header.
Can I change the date format?
The date format in the PDF follows the international ISO standard (YYYY-MM-DD). Localized date formatting is on the roadmap for a future release.
5. Sending Invoices by Email
Direct email sending is a Pro feature. Once you are signed in with a Pro account, an “Email Invoice” button appears on saved invoices. The PDF is attached automatically and sent from invoices@cashday.app with your name as the sender.
You can also share a public invoice link — ideal for payment pages or when a client needs to view the invoice in their browser without downloading a file.
6. Account & Billing
How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
Go to Dashboard → Settings → Billing and click “Cancel subscription”. Your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued unless required by law.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Dashboard → Settings → Account and click “Delete account”. All your data is permanently deleted within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.
Is my payment data secure?
Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never store your card number or CVV — Stripe handles all payment data under PCI DSS compliance.
7. Data & Privacy
Anonymous users: no data is ever sent to our servers — everything stays in your browser.
Pro users: invoice data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256) and stored in EU-based Supabase infrastructure. You can export or delete your data at any time. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
